With two people asking me in one day for an update on our lives, I thought it necessary to update our blog.
Since we moved here in July 2007, God has shown us much about Him and about ourselves. Josh is still working for Tokola Properties as an apartment manager of one complex and maintenance at another (the one we live at). He is currently seeking other employment so we can move closer to our church in North Portland. I am still working from home for TeleVox Software. While it is extremely difficult to work full-time while taking care of the girls, we are thankful God has allowed me to carry this job with us.
The girls are growing up faster than we can imagine. Madi is nearly 2 ½ now and is no longer a baby. She’s a little girl. She’s incredibly smart and incredibly feisty. J She loves to figure out how things work and loves to run and play. Natalie will be 7 months this week. She has changed so much in every way possible since she’s been born. She is so happy and cheerful and she loves to watch and learn from her big sister. She is eating solid foods now and begs for more. She is sleeping much better now and is actually now sharing a room with her sister. Josh and I are excited to have our room back.
Although we moved here with the intentions of planting a house church, God has redirected our paths. We have been led to be a part of Red Sea Church in North Portland. Our church motto is “Draw to Christ, Develop in Community and Deploy into Culture” and it’s been awesome and encouraging to do just that. It’s been awesome to be part of a church like this…the people are amazing and sincere…they truly have a desire to fulfill our church mission. We meet weekly with our Home Community Group and have thoroughly enjoyed the transparency and honest conversation amongst our group. They have become our family away from family.
We are praying over some possibilities that are in the near future that we are excited about and will share when we know more definites. We are just resting in the arms of the Lord and learning to be patient on His good timing and trust in His Will for our lives. It’s difficult being away from family, but we know we are where we are supposed to be for the work of the Lord. We are thankful of where He has us now and feel “at home” in our church community at Red Sea.
Thank you for all your continued prayer as God continues to reveal His Will for our lives. We’d love to hear how God is working in each of your lives. Please update us if you have the chance.
Here are some other ways you can be praying for others we know in our lives:
- Cronin’s – Erin is due to have her 3rd child (girl) this next week. Please pray for a safe labor and delivery, as well as the health of the baby.
- Rougghley’s – Alana has been on bed rest since November now with her 2nd child (girl) and will be taken off the medication that prevents going into labor this week (35 weeks). Please pray for a safe labor and delivery, as well as recovery and health of the baby.
- Reed’s – Lisa is due with her 2nd child (girl) in March. Please pray for a safe and healthy rest of the pregnancy as well as labor and delivery and good health for the baby.
- Dayspring Baptist Church, Mobile, AL – actively seeking a Senior Pastor
- Gaumers – Greg graduates in May from SWBTS and is seeking God’s will & direction for their lives.

I love ya'll to death and I'm praying for ya'll that God will just show ya'll what He wants to do in Portland! I can't wait to come up there this summer! Like, for real, lol.
Thanks for the info about AR. We've tried propping her bed, but she tends to move during the night and ends up flat anyway. She's taking a medicine that helps A LOT! No more screaming at night. :-) Any other advice or tips are greatly appreciated and welcome. Keep 'em coming! Thanks.
Josh and Jamie,
I lost touch with my brothers many years ago. There has been a longing to reconnect with them. I have searched the web a long time and finally stumbled onto your site. My name is Kim Duncan Dobbins. My father is David and my step mother was Becky. They had two sons Michael and Josh. I am pretty sure you are my brother Josh and I would love to hear from you. If I am mistaken, I am sorry to have taken up your time. I have read your blog and think you have a wonderful family and are doing an amazing work for the Lord. Regardless of all things, I wish you and your family the very best.
